Initially unnerving to even the most audacious of individuals, Astral Shadedrinkers are a menacing spectacle to witness for anyone catching their first glimpse of one of these enormous beasts. Sporting an unmistakably prominent eye that harbors the ability to spot curses placed on living organisms and objects alike, Astral Shadedrinkers exclusively feed off atmospheric dark energy that they consume through a thin, proboscis-like appendage. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect regarding their general mien is the collection of dark energy that gathers around an Astral Shadedrinker's face. Bizarrely enough, this billowy manifestation of energy is their primary means of communication; producing sharp flashes of light that glimmer like stars through the darkness that enshrouds their heads, these lights are read and reciprocated by fellow Shadedrinkers in a dazzling display of twinkling blinks. Despite their formidable size and daunting appearance, these serpentine creatures are little more than rarely-spotted gentle giants that spend the majority of their lives dwelling high within the atmosphere. Due to their infrequent descendence, Astral Shadedrinkers are almost exclusively sold by specialty breeders around the fall and Halloween season when dark energy is the most abundant for them, making ideal reproduction easier. Because newborns will gluttonously consume energy without abandon and are too weak to withstand the average amount of dark energy that naturally exists in the atmosphere, baby Shadedrinkers are kept in special jars until they're are big enough to effectively sustain their intake of energy and venture out on their own.

The vast land of Ostlea is home to creatures of all species, each with their own unique characteristics, some magical and rare, others so common they are sometimes viewed as pests in the areas they reside. To this day new species and information are still being discovered.
